My Website!

Let me show it to you.

So, after seven years of deliberation, I taught myself CSS and now have a site! Check it out, let me know if you have any suggestions, and enjoy. If you've ever had some weird urge to peruse my resume, you finally can.

Commission update!

Journal Entry: Tue Oct 17, 2006, 9:20 AM
Commissions are closed for the time being, but will be available within the week if all goes well.

I'm thinking of upping my icon price to $15 just for my own sanity- I'm spending too much time on them to be offering them for $10- and WoW sketches from here on out probably won't be as clean as what I've posted recently. I get caught up in my work a lot of the time, and so found myself inking the sketches just for the hell of it, which is a bad sign when it comes to commission consistancy, so. That will be remedied.

I already have a list of people who I'm going to contact right before I open up commissions, but if anyone interested could reply to this thread, that would be extrememly convenient and awesome.

Any inquiries can be sent to ShoomlahATgmailDOTcom. Thanks much!

Commission Price List, v 1.2

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 4, 2006, 9:41 PM
Commissions are Open, and the listings are going to be posted on my livejournal to make things cleaner and more organized. If you're interested, head over to [link] and see what slots there are. I'm partitioning things a bit this time, thus allowing myself to do several badge, icon, or WoW commissions alongside my normal fare.

(A quick disclaimer- prices do vary according to specific commissions, so don’t be surprised if your piece costs less or more depending on the complexity of your character. If it’s Kirby’s evil twin, I’m obviously not going to charge as much as if you had requested a portrait of your hyena-maned wolf-coyote-pronghorn with two heads and twelve arms and, like, a bajillion piercings and this really specific costume drawing from Regency period military uniform designs. You get the idea.)

Character Illustrations
This encompasses what I usually get in terms of commissions- portraits of characters with or without some sort of background or setting. The primary focus of a character piece would be, as the name would imply, the character- less focus would be placed on storytelling. Multiple characters may or may not impact the price of the piece.

1. Digital sketch (none of that shipping nonsense)
$10 - $15

2. Sketch (traditional or digital print) [link] , [link]
$15 - $25
+ $5 for simple setting (spot illustration) [link]
+ $10 for background (full bleed)

3. Lineart (traditional or digital print) [link]
$20-30
+ $5 for simple setting
+10 for background

4. Simple colour (digital, flat colours with minimal shading)
$25 - $35 [link] ,
+ $10 for simple setting
+ $20 for background

Simple colour (traditional, flat washes & toning)
$25 - $40 [link]
+ $10 for simple setting
+ $20 for background

5. Complex colour (digital, finely rendered)
$50 - $90 [link] , [link]
+ $15 for simple setting
+ $30 for background [link] , [link] *(see note below)

Complex colour (traditional, finely rendered) [link] , [link]

*Full Illustrations
The two illustrations above are the only examples I had on hand for pieces with full bleed backgrounds, but considering the setting, lighting, character interaction, story, etc, I’d definitely count them as full illustrations. Full illustrations may still focus primarily on characters, but atmosphere and story play a larger part- think something more along the lines of a book illustration. I can’t put a specific price range on these more complex illustrations, so they’d be addressed on a piece by piece basis.

Colourist jobs, landscapes, logos, etc.
For all of those pesky commissions that don’t fall into the categories above, I’d prefer that you contact me directly explaining the commission, and I’d throw out a price for it. I love doing more obscure commissions from fantastic landscapes to prop and costume design to logos, so please feel free to contact me about such things- some of my favourite things to do at Neopets were the items. :)

---

If’n my commission status is open, make sure you detail what you want your commission of- pose and attitude information is always helpful, as is any background on and/or reference of the character in question. If you have a particular medium in mind, make sure to let me know- traditional doesn’t automatically mean trias, and digital doesn’t automatically mean Flash cel shading.

---

To contact me, you can e-mail me at chummelATrisdDOTedu, IM me at shoomlah, comment in my livejournal (again, shoomlah) or just send me a note here on DA- I check all these venues quite regularly, so it shouldn’t be too hard to track me down.

Hope this helps everyone get a handle on things,

Commissions

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 29, 2005, 12:10 AM
Just because people seem to be curious...

...And I figured I should elaborate on the topic! I suppose I should have stated it before, but yes, I am taking commissions; I finally finished up a whole bunch of crap from my shady past, so it gave me a chance to start anew and I've been taking advantage of any free time I may have here at art college to work diligently on commissioned work. Here's the current queue:

1. Single character, full-body watercolour (Gypsymoon) - finished, haven't received payment
2. Landscape cel shading & colour job - in progress, paid
3. Two character pieces, digital (WickedSairah) - not yet started, thus not paid

...Anyway, that's what I'm currently dealing with. Assuming I don't get a sudden influx of commission requests in the next few days, I am open for commissions at least until the holiday season comes 'round. Prices vary depending on the nature and complexity of the piece requested, but I'll try to put up a pricing list when I have the time.

Ta for now,
-C
