I have to say (and I never comment on here) that I truly like your princesses! Especially Pocahontas. I hated the movie and the way she was portrayed, and refused to let my daughters watch it. She is supposedly (according to a great aunt's research) a very, very, very distant relative and what Disney did was offensive. Not just to myself but to many of native descent. I realize this is an old subject, but just wanted to tell you I like what you've done with her and the others. As much as I enjoy the movies, fashion is a big love of mine and it always irritated me that the clothing was so sloppily researched, especially in the more current movies where they should know better.

Some guys in France did a really shitty video focused on your redesign project )= It's like they know absolutely anything about historical costume and their video is absolutely not worth your work. I can't believe they fucked up your illustrations to that extent )=
Anyway I'm a big fan of your work !

One of the best series on the Internet! But, it bothers me that you don't have your original Pocahontas ("In Sixteen-Hundred Seven") in this category. It's one of my favorites.

if you search my gallery you can find it!  I'm sorry that it bothers you that it's missing, but I made the conscious decision to remove it since it was historically inaccurate, used unfortunate colonialist imagery, and perpetuated racist stereotypes of Pocahontas and the Powhatan people.

???

Did actual Native Americans tell you that? Or are you just taking someone else's word that it's "offensive?"

I'm not quite sure why you're digging through the comments on my old piece and trying to prove to me that the old piece isn't racist, or that I was somehow swayed by non-native allies, or something of that ilk...?  The description on my new piece clearly states the changes I decided to make: shoomlah.deviantart.com/art/I-…

...as well as directly crediting the indigenous folks (some now dear friends) who called me out, started the conversation in the first place, and took the time to have a productive dialogue with me.  I owe them a lot, and I'd much rather you had the decency to respect my choices with my own work.

I "went digging" because I was seriously baffled by your decision and wondered if some incident had led you to it. But it's your gallery.
