I am having serious trouble finding my style for wolves. Can you please help me? I have been practicing and practicing, but somehow they always look the same! I have been studying and using ref, but I don't have a printer! Plus, EVERY time I show my latest wolf drawing to my friend, she ALWAYS criticizes it. And not in a helpful way....She says "It looks weird." And I'm like "How? Be specific." "The Head." "What about it??" "It just looks weird." So see? Even my friends can't help me! Any advice? OH! Plus I want mine more cartoon-like and less realistic. But I want a little realistic flair, like claws I can't draw claws very well, and poses and...Expressions? And accessories?
I can't really help you there besides saying to draw from reference and find your own style. If your friend isn't being helpful, ask around online! There are tons of helpful communities out there willing to critique art in a productive way.
OK... I just joined a few weeks ago as a charcter design member, and I keep seeing very old art for concepts, etc that were from way back when. I had no idea how they came up with the designs, but I think Audrey probably had most ideas.
Either way, the sketches are lovely - great designs I love the complexity of them.
