Offerings to Pele, the Hawai'ian Goddess of Fire, at Halema'uma'u in Volcano Nat'l Park; can everyone tell that that an unimaginably huge crater behind the offerings...?
I used to live in Hawaii. I was told that Pele wouldn't harm you if you were kind to others and respectful of Nature. The stories they used to tell us about Pele scared me so bad when I was little! But, I'm not too worried now. Our house is pretty far away from the Volcano.
Ah, I remember visiting here, I remember the offerings, and I remember how beautiful it was. At night you could see the glowing from the lava flows in the active crater, it was like beautiful Pele's hair... Silly memories, yes, but this brings them all back, and I thank you. Magnificent job.
...some interesting but useless trivia about the name 'Pele'
First of all, 'pele' means 'mouse' in Latvian..., which makes little sense, but meh+blah
Secondly... in Russian, there is a word 'pepel' ...which is KINDA similar to 'pele'. Pepel means 'ash'.
Pele pwns people who don't appease her. Just look out for an elderly woman with a small white dog by the side of the road... Mmmm, we have such interesting myth-related urban legends here in Hawaii. The Pele ones are quite compelling. That crater is only a monument to her power. ;D *shuts up*

Were the offerings placed like that, because they're composed perfectly in this capture?
