Continuing my historically accurate Disney princesses! It makes me happy.

The Little Mermaid is hard to place from a time period standpoint- Grimsby's wearing a Georgian getup, Ariel's pink dress with the slashed sleeves subscribes to several eras from the Renaissance to the 1840's, Eric is... Eric.

I went with Ariel's wedding dress as a starting point since those gigantic leg-o-mutton sleeves (so embarrassingly popular in eighties wedding fashion) were a great starting point for an 1890's evening gown. It's also not unfeasible that Eric's cropped tailcoat could be from the same era, so I'm sticking with my choice. PLUS Ariel with Gibson girl hair? COME ON IT IS AWESOME.

I'm still not sure if I'd try to squeeze her pink dress in the same time period or if I'd just throw up my hands and draw it with a hoop skirt, but we'll see.

I'm seriously digging this collection. Fantastic job with the historical accuracy! This is hella rad.

THE CORSET. HTE CORSET. God bless you and your impeccable costume research. This is fabulous.
She's fabulous! I love it! The fantastic hair, the seaweed bouquet, the tiny shell details on the dress, even the beautiful colour and the way she's positioned, all of it is just fab!

Bravo! Beautiful work!
I just favorited half of this series. The art is vibrant and striking, and I love how you reinterpreted the costumes in a historical context. All around fabulous!

Wouldn't it be set s little earlier? I'm just assuming based off the architecture and the fact that Eric's ship is made out of wood.  And the pink dress is pretty hard to pin-point considering the fact that it was a tribute to the Aurora, Snow White, and Cinderella's dress.  Her sparkly blue dress at the end is no help at all, completely modern! All of her outfits are so stylized, so you still did a good job.

Other than that, astounding work and I hope you continue this series!
Ariel is my FAVORITE princess. So thank you for this! :)
it's hard to think of this as an evening gown, when it screams to me wedding gown. not to mention the flowers. if there were no flowers, i could see evening gown. my lamentation? no epic veil!! i mean...come on, veils are so awesome. it's also a bit saddening to not see a bit more sea flair. i mean okay sea shell earrings, and a shell brooch on the bodice. pearls in the hair are nice, though more would have been awesome.<3

also...omg those sleeves are huge.T_T

Um, you realize this is her wedding gown? It says it in the description. This isn't the pink dress.
i never said it was the pink dress either now did i? i was pointing on the fact you said the sleeves were a starting point for a 1890's evening gown. and obviously i know it's a wedding dress, otherwise i would not be lamenting the fact there is no veil. please read my comment thoroughly.^^

when did i ever say anything about the pink dress?
