The Vaults Are Extensive by shoomlah The Vaults Are Extensive by shoomlah
Again for my Illustration class, a painting (inked in ballpoint, coloured in Painter 9) of Poe's The Cask of Amontillado featuring a cluelessly drunk Fortunato facing a reflection of his mask and of his impending death in the walls of the catacomb... You can find the story on the IntarWeb if you're unfamiliar with it, but the grinning fool in the foreground is mere minutes away from being chained to a wall and murdered by the suspicious-looking character towering behind him, Montressor.

Maker, I'm fond of those skulls. Hm. Oh, and the piece isn't quite finished yet- I still have a bit to do with Fortunato and certain areas colouring-wise, but I'll get around to it soon enough.

Montressor reminds me of Dr. Facilier from "The Princess and the Frog" for some reason

I love 'Cask of Amontillado'. I'm a fangirl, I suppose. Wonderful art, and true to the story, oh, and your style is fabulous, by the way. This one's going in the favorites!

I love that story! (what makes it creepier is that "The Cask of Amontillado" was based off of something that actually happened. Mr. Poe heard about it during his military days. CREEEEPPPY) I lurve this. Fortunado looks all sorts of awesome.

I remember reading that story... Fortunato strikes me as looking a little sober?

I don't recall Montressor's costume being described, or him wearing a costume at all. But then again, I read an abridged version.

Stylistically, this is quite different from the kind of art I usually see you create. I like it! It's different, and is an excellent showcase of the range you possess. :)
