...She's a snow goddess, actually, but DeviantArt is damned picky about the lengths of their titles.

Second of the two matching character designs for class this week- I decided to redraw the characters from my Pele and Poliahu comic ( [link] ), since I hadn't had time to design them before. Poliahu is supposed to be the most beautiful of the Hawai'ian goddesses, something I doubt I realized when I designed her last time and actually made her a bit awkward, so I tried to make her more voluptuous and appealing.

Again, great design. The colors really fit the characters. I'm really loving the leis and body art on each of these.. great stuff!

*laughs* That's certainly a change, but it really looks spot on. XD I love how she looks so smug, but who can't be smug while holding a track record of winning against a fiery bitch for so many thousands of years? XD

Her figure is actually a bit of a relief, since sometimes it gets frustrating how too much emphasis is put on the "skinny hula girl" tourism-driven stereotype of Hawaiians (not that I'm Hawaiian by blood, but 21 years of living here...) when there's much better evidence that a woman with a figure like this was more preferred back in the day. Awesome stuff!

Ooh ooh! I'm with Eleri! You should definitely do that one.

Both redesigns are gorgeous. I love the roundness in this one -- it's definitely the Hawai'ian as opposed to mainland-American ideal of beauty.
