First of two matching character designs for class this week- I decided to redraw the characters from my Pele and Poliahu comic ( [link] ), since I hadn't had time to design them before and I am now, arguably, somewhat more attuned to the nuances that go into character design. A little bit, anyway.

She looks almost Egyptian here. :confused: I think it's the headdress which, combined with the eyes, seems to give off the impression of a cobra more than a volcano goddess. The only guess I can make is that this pic was going for the "tiki headdress" look, but for some reason it just looks odd on Pele for me, possibly because I'm most used to seeing her depicted with a haku lei if wearing anything at all. Still, a really awesome, sleek design. She looks a lot meaner now.
