La Mode du Vampire by shoomlah La Mode du Vampire by shoomlah
Second in my series of of monster-inspired 19th century fashion plates. The Vampire is a little more on the nose design-wise than The Werewolf, but I'm not complaining.

(Seems worth mentioning that I'll have art and prints in the Steamcon IV Art Exhibition this year, along with being on a number of panels about art, games, mummies, all that good stuff. Hope to see some of you there!)

I think we need a complete collection of vampire clothing. That might be the start of it. :D

I adore her dress, so detailed, and yes, very on the nose design-wise. I like how her face is slightly impish too.

Oohh, cool beans. I think the werewolf is probably my favorite out of the two, but this one's gorgeous too. Those details along the skirt and collar edges are just lovely.

Both of these are amazing, in all honesty I'm preferring the Loup Garroux right now.
Is this going to be your next disney princesses?

Have you read Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate series (Soulless, Changeless, etc.)? It's a Victorian dramedy about Werewolves and Vampires (among other things) in Victorian England, with a bit of a Steampunk edge to it. It's very light and fun and I think you might enjoy it!

Lovely art as usual, I always love seeing your take on Victorian fashion!

I have not! Though I have net Gail. :) I hear the series is fantastic, though I'm admittedly put off by the covers.

I listened to the audiobooks of the first three, and got the e-book of the fourth, so no photographed costume covers for me! It's worked out well.

You can go ahead and magic that one into existence too, in 38-23-37 size, thanks so very much LOL I'd probably go for darker colors myself, like black and red, but the almost skin-colored tones are an interesting and less cliché choice. Perhaps a higher contrast between the pink and red, as in ivory and reds? Either way, very nice design. The scallop hem reminds me of a 1898 French dress I've seen.

It's meant to be white and grey, it's just the color grading that makes it look pink. :)

The colour scheme of the gown brings to mind pale flesh splitting to reveal crimson blood underneath - a great feature that speaks to the violence of vampirism. That plus the spiky collar is giving me a Hellraiser/Cenobites feeling that I like. This is cool :D

Very Creepy.
What monsters are you going to do next?
May I suggest:
Wendigo (a cannibal that grows taller as it eats, so it's always skinny and famished)
Zmey (a Bulgarian shape-shifter like a Chinese dragon)
Nukekubi (the head detaches at night to fly off and do mischief)
Selkie
