A fancy photo of my finished piece for the How To Train Your Dragon show before shipping it off to Nucleus! I was determined to do something with knots and interlace, so it seemed as good a chance as any to whip out Ye Olde wood burning tools.
…and a chance to take a photo of it surrounded by furs and tankards and horns because WHY THE HECK NOT.
This looks very good. The dragon knotting is original and well made, and the outward knots are quite regulars ! The unusual material makes it even more interesting, and amplifies "the raw vikingness" of it, as might Hiccup put it. I am curious, having never done pyrography before, how long did it take to realize it ?
I'm not a viking, and I don't need a shield, but dag nabbit I just want this for reasons. @_@ The zippleback was definitely one of my favorite dragons from How to Train your Dragon and the character is utilized wonderfully in this work. Those snaking heads looked like so much fun to interlace!
The celtic knotting. I can't even fathom the intricacies and wonder. I've done plain old solid lines in celtic knotting and they're so difficult but so rewarding -- then to make them into dragon's necks!? I really really wish I had one of these...
