Always caulk the wagon by shoomlah Always caulk the wagon by shoomlah
Second of my Red Dead Redemption/Oregon Trail mash-up pieces for LTD Gallery’s Press Start show! First one's over here:

The opening is this Friday, and I’ll definitely be swinging by- it’s gonna be PAX weekend, so here’s hoping the gallery will be packed. :)

Man remember back in elementary school, we would all name the characters after our friends and classmates so we can tell them that they tragically died some way or another

I don't believe I ever had any of my travelers survive Oregon Trail. This brings back all the hate I have for that game.

lololol, god I haven't played the Oregon Trail in years. This made me laugh, because crossing rivers was always a dramatic, terrifying experience when I played 'cause you would never know if you were going to kill one of the members of your team (I always named the members of my team after my sisters so when one of them died I could yell at them that they were dead). >-<

And then those random times when it plays the scary-someone-died-music, and its only a dust storm. I just might have to go play the Oregon trail after this. ;P

This is so weird. I have literally just gotten back to playing RDR, and practically the first thing I did was forget Mister Marston couldn't swim and try to cross a river with my horse. It didn't end well...

3 feet is the cutoff.  Under three, ford.  Over three, caulk.  90% success rate guaranteed.  I have played this game an unacceptable number of times.  I now have to add a handicap of some kind (pick a bad job or leave at a stupid time of year) or I can't lose.  Barring those freak incidents where you get mauled by a bear in the dead of winter when all bears should be hibernating.  The animal encounters in game make no sense whatsoever.

RIGHT?  I mastered this game as a kid, and it surprises me how many people seemed to never make it to the Willamette Valley. :D

Haha! This is so true! I still play the old v.5 edition, but I run into this same problem. Even in 3 stinkin' feet of water!!!! Why!? Why does this have to be so true!?

But seriously now, this made me burst out laughing and my whole family got a kick out of it too. (same with the "Aim for the buffalo" one) XD I loved these!

I reached out to LTD earlier this year, and they accepted me as an artist and sent me various calls for art whenever shows would pop up.  For this one, though, you just had to be an active professional in the games industry as well. :)
